When creating the request, the following six fields (among others) are requested: Common Name – domain name or IP address, Organization – organization or company, Organizational Unit – organizational unit or department, Locality – location, State or Province – state, Country. It must be noted that this data irrevocably represents the certificate contents. Subsequent changes can only be made by reordering. The most important indication is the Common Name. Here, the complete (https) address of the server to be certified is to be entered, e.g., www.samplecompany.de.

This is because every browser compares its selected address with the Common Name details in the certificate. If these do not match, a security prompt will appear.
