The most reliable method is to look at the certificate directly. Your certificates are listed in the myServerPass customer portal under <my certificates>. For detail view of certificate information, choose the corresponding reference number and download the certificate (without chain of trust). Double-click this certificate to view its properties and intended uses. This information is displayed on three tabs General, Details, and Certification Path. You can find information about the <signature algorithm> in the <Details> tab. If the certificate uses the SHA1 hashing algorithm, we strongly recommend to migrate to SHA256 using the <Re-Issue> option (free of charge).

You can also use a webbrowser to verify the signature algorithm. Enter the commonName into the adress bar, e.g. https://example.com. A lock- or certificate icon is displayed next to the adress bar. Click on this icon to view its properties and intended uses.

Please see our FAQ for additional information: How do I migrate an existing SHA-1 certificate into a SHA-256 certificate using Re-Issue and Important Information.

You can find the free and convenient option <Re-Issue> in the myServerPass customer portal. For detail view, choose the corresponding reference number under <my certificates>.

You upgrade the valid SHA-1 certificates using the <Re-Issue> option where you are forwarded to the order form. We recommend to generate a new key pair. Please provide this new public key with the certificate request. If necessary, you can reuse the old certificate request. Please use the SHA256 Certification Authority „TeleSec ServerPass Class 2 CA“ for all current standard applications. You can not change any other certificate content in this process.

Immediately after a successful order check and certificate approval, you will be informed by e-mail that your new SHA-256 certificate is available for download from the customer portal.
