Depending on the operating system Telekom Security provides up to two PKCS#11 modules:

• The SigG module supports the SigG application for qualified signatures on the TCOS Signature Card V2.0 and TCOS Signature Card V3.0.
• The NetKey module supports advanced smart card applications on the TCOS Signature Card V2.0, TCOS Signature Card V3.0, and TCOS 4.0 IDKey Card
• The NKP module supports the NetkeyPlus application on the TCOS 4 IDKey Card.

The latest version of TCOS PKCS#11 includes the respective modules and the accompanying release notes with important information about the new features.

The TCOS4 Minidriver/Card Module integrates the TCOS 4.0 IDKey Card into the Microsoft® Windows operating system via the Microsoft® Key Storage Provider, or with older versions via the Smartcard BaseCSP. The Microsoft® Key Storage Provider (from Windows 11® onward), or the Smartcard BaseCSP (available from Windows 7® in older versions), is part of the operating system.

For advanced card applications (Netkey Application) on the TCOS Signature Card V2.0, a dedicated read-only minidriver/card module is provided. If the respective TCOS 3/4 card module is installed correctly, the inserted TCOS chip card will, for example, appear in the Device Manager.

For managing PIN1/PIN2 and certificates on the TCOS Smartcards, the CardManager is required. With the CardManager, you can individually set the PIN1 for the respective applications on the smart card and reset the PIN2. A known PIN2 can be used as a PUK for PIN1 with the CardManager.

If the CR key is not set by, for example, the PKI operator, it must be set with a random number! You can download the free "TCOS CardManager" software for this purpose in the next section.

For the management of TCOS Smartcards, TCOS CardManager.net is available. It assists in managing certificates and PINs.

With the TCOS CardManager, the default PIN (smart card in delivery condition) can be personalized with a custom PIN, and an existing PIN2 can be reassigned with a known sequence of digits in order to later use the PUK functionality of PIN2.

The certificate manager can be run on Windows® either in user mode or by selecting Run as administrator. As a user, you can change and reset PINs, but certificates are only displayed. As an administrator (which requires the user to have admin rights), certificates on the TCOS chip card can also be deleted or imported.

Additionally, the TCOS CardManager displays detailed information about the smart card, such as the card type, card number, PIN status, or the remaining available memory.

The TCOS CardManager is provided as a standard version for Windows® 11, as well as a portable version (with/without runtime) for workstations where no installer can be executed.

The TCOS CardManager supports the TCOS Signature Card V2.0, TCOS Signature Card V3.0, as well as the TCOS 3.0/4.0 IDKey Card. Installation of .NET 8 is required (except for the portable variant with included runtime).

The TCOS Securetoken driver integrates the TCOS Smartcard into the MacOS operating system and makes the functionality of TCOS chip cards available in, for example, Microsoft® Office and Adobe® Reader via the TCOS Securetoken driver.
